Yes, I'm serious about this question. I hate to admit, but I honestly don't think so. I believe that, no matter what happens on election night, we still will not know who actually is the President-elect (I suspect we'll be re-counting ballots for a few days beyond that). But worse, still, I suspect we'll experience some level of "civil unrest" - - hopefully not a "high" level, but some, nonetheless.
One blog is reporting HERE that a McCain "win" would be, be definition, "theft," and there are plans for "resistance" should this happen.
Another blog aledges that Rev. Jesse Jackson has, along with other Democrats, "pledged" to riot of McCain wins.
And even if you don't believe that, activist groups (like this one HERE) have organized for the specific purpose of not allowing a Democratic Party loss this year.
And law enforcement agencies around the country are bracing for civil unrest, regardless of who wins the presidential race.
Even today, there have been two reports of violence against McCain supporters.
In one case, a 20 year-old female McCain supporter was mugged, and when her assailant noticed a McCain sticker on her car, he struck her to the ground and carved a "B" on her face.
And in another incident, a Florida State Republican Party operative had his home "shot up."
And we're 12 days away from knowing how the voting is going to go.
What happens on election night - - and thereafter?
We'll talk about this...as well as ponder the question "why DOES Obama insist on raising taxes in the midst of an economic downturn?"

Hello Austin: I really enjoyed listening to your show tonight!
I believe that the only way the election aftermath has a chance to be even semi-peaceful is for Senator Obama to step up and confront his loyal followers with genuine regard for all Americans and basically call off his dogs if you will.
Senator Obama’s past and present associations with radical characters and organizational corruption have raised great concern for a great number of American voters (William Ayers, Rev. Wright, and ACORN - now widely known but rarely reported accurately and continuously disregarded if not totally denied). These accusations are quickly dismissed and considered out of line, dirty - out of bounds - attacks and as of late even regarded as being racist. All of this activity equates to fuel for his crazed followers feeding frenzy. He could never rise to the level to denounce an uprising – an uprising will probably be embraced as a heroic act of being in some warped way patriotic. To acknowledge this kind of danger exists and to be proactive in taking a position to protect the innocent people that may be injured in a chaotic uprising would be totally out of character.
This is the man that a great number of Americans (dead and alive - let's not forget to include foreigners residing here illegally and those residing abroad) are supporting to lead our great nation regardless of the foreseeable consequences!
Whatever the election outcome and whatever the extent of the civil disobedience, we can certainly expect the aftermath to be spun by mainstream media to somehow blame President Bush and his administration - and further legitimize any involvement (if any) that Mr. Obama can be proven to have had.
For now... denial that any such potential for an uprising even exists is probably politically correct. Think we can count on any help from the hopeful one who has campaigned feverishly on bringing us change we need? Don't bet on it!
Austin,
I agree with the last post.
I'll be taking my McCain bumper sticker off today - it makes me a target.
Same for my lawn sign - my wife is home alone most of the day.
We will - however - be voting. How totally stupid to think that this kind of harrasment would change someone's mind.!
I actually want to vote of a black man for president - but not a socialist.
How about Michael Steele? Or the guy down in Florida that was an Army Colonel. The guy who got in trouble for shooting his gun off next the head of a terrorist to get him to talk.
Now THAT GUY I could vote for.
Skin color doesn't matter to me whatsoever - it's charactor that matters.
Barrak is just an empty suit with no resume to speak of -- and no real idea of what to do once he gets in office.
Cheers, Bob Nolton
