The reaction to Governor Sarah Palin's speech last night at the Republican National Convention has been amusing, to say the least. An editorial in today's New York Post newspaper says it best, in my view.
A friend of mine, who is a talk show host, and a WOMAN, said it best to me, when I took her call on my Blackberry while shuffling out of the Excel Energy Arena last night. "Austin," she said with a verbal smirk. "Barack Obama is now the boy on the playground who just got his butt kicked by a girl, but it would be 'totally uncool' for him to hit her back."
I think there's some merit to that analysis. How does Obama, or Biden, jab at Governor Palin, without appearing like they're sexist pigs? They'll find a way, but, indeed, this IS Obama's worst nightmare.
My concern now is that Sarah will, in the end, upstage Senator McCain. The stage is being completely re-set for his acceptance speech tonite, and I'm told he'll appear in a "townhall" type of setting, a format in which he does extremely well....

This post alone demonstrates the weak grasp you have on the concept of sexism. I see you have a M.A. (M. Div?) in philosophy of religion. As a fellow religion scholar, I encourage you to pick up Mary Daly and Rosemary Radford Reuther. Encourage your conservative friends to do so as well, since it seems they have just discovered this odd little notion of "sexism" (for example: Q - How do we beat the bitch? A - Excellent question...I don't have to tell you who said it). I would also recommend some Marilyn Frye, particularly "The Politics of Reality". Peace
Upon further investigation, I have noticed that your Master's Degree in Philosophy of Religion comes from an institution that believes the Bible to be the inerrant word of God, complete with 100% historical accuracy. Given this, I apologize for attempting to lead you to fact-based literature. One question though: how did all of you conservative Christians preserve ancient Aramaic (among other local tongues of the old Near East) so well as to not lose any notions in translation over the past 2000-6000 years?
PS - Does Qoholeth scare you?
