Former Democratic presidential candidate - - and supposedly Vice Presidential hopeful - - John Edwards is now being confronted with even uglier details, not just about an allged extra-marital affair, but now, about "hush money."

The saving grace for Edwards, if there is any in this situation, is that thus far, no other, more credible media outlet besides the National Enquirer has aggressively gone about "investigating" this matter.
Even so, he is seriously hurt by it all. In terms of saving his public profile, his only hope now is to hold a press conference, face the questions and answer them, respond to the allegations, and try to put it behind him.
That's tough to do, when there's a wife dying of cancer, a newborn baby, and "another woman" involved......
