McCain Will Miss His Own Convention...

Bet on it...McCain will be a "no show" at the Republican National Convention this week.

Here is what will happen:

A) As I posted earlier, convention activities will be transformed into disaster relief fundraising efforts, in light of Hurricane Gustav.

B) McCain will be a part of a national "call to action" campaign (rather than a political campaign) this week, calling on us all to "serve our fellow Americans."

C) McCain will be following the "I'd rather lose an election and win a war, than lose a war to lose an election" theme, and the message will be "I'd rather miss my own convention, and risk losing the election, so as to serve the country in a time of crisis."

D) Official "delegate seating" will be limited to a 2 hour ordeal on Tuesday (NOT Monday).

E) McCain will, in some sense, "Go Kennedy" - - with respect to Kennedy's admonition to "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country..." and will ask ALL AMERICANS to do the right thing and help the hurricane victims, via private sector charities...

You "heard" it here first........More later................

The Republican National Convention Rolls-On, But In A Different Way...

The Republican National Convention will happen, but in a more low-key fashion. Here are the latest changes I'm learning:

A) President Bush will NOT be present at the convention - - he will likely be "teleconferenced" in for a brief big-screen video presentation, but he, along with other administration officials, will be "on site" at locations damaged by Hurricane Gustav.

B) For a portion of Monday and Tuesday's video and audio feed of the convention, a virtual "telethon" to raise funds for hurricane victims will be in place.

C) State delegate parties are being curtailed, and transformed into American Red Cross fundraising events.

D) Senator McCain and Governor Palin will tour, and speak at hurricane damaged sites early this week.

Also, keep this in mind:

This national tragedy creates an opportunity for the McCain/Palin ticket to "Go Kennedy" ...

"..Ask Not What You're Country Can Do For You, But What You Can Do For Your Country..."

Go John and Sarah....
